You can now also experience the picturesque Squirrel Route on a bike
Why not hop on a bike and cycle from one rest stop to another along a signposted cycling route? The full-service route also enables you to canoe some sections and cycle the rest.
The family-friendly Squirrel Route, which runs across typical South Savo landscapes, with their lakes, forests, fields, meadows and numerous visitor attractions, can now also be experienced on a bike! The signposted cycling route, which runs between Juva and Sulkava and makes use of the canoeing route’s rest stops, was opened in 2022. You can recognise the route from the familiar squirrel logo, this time on a bike.
The 46-km route can be cycled in either direction. You can complete your adventure in the great outdoors by combining canoeing with your cycling trip, as Juva Camping and Sulkava’s Oravanpesät offer equipment hire and transport services, making it easy and affordable to get to any route location.
Along the route, you can also find accommodation, ranging from villas and holiday apartments to cottages and campsites. You can hire an electric fatbike via Hasa Juva Ski Resort or book saunas or catering, even for larger groups.
